Moodbox...it is actually quite fun~~

Miro is a surrealist artist so his drawing is very abstract and he liked to use colors for his drawing..
So for my second moodbox I try to put colors inside and the result is quite nice…
And thinking about the function so I make an abstract kind of column to support the box…
It is quite interesting when you start to put your idea into action and make something out..
It is FUN~~~ =)

IS TERM 4~~

Term 4 school reopens~~~~
This will be the last term for Sem 2 and then we will go to second year…
So the first day of school and we have our consultation on the moodbox…
The idea for my moodbox is using one of Miro’s drawing..
So it is just kind of not correct so I have to redo a moodbox…
I think next time will be better…
Anyway is school reopens so is quite happy to see everyone again
Haha..

Critique............

We have our critique today and mine is really not a good one…
The “Blind Mice” have some problem that we never think of it before and it is just kind of doesn’t work out…
And my research on Miro is not enough and I realize that I dun really know about him…
I think I need to do more research on him before I make the moodbox…

HOLIDAY~~~~~

It is going to be holiday and we have our last lecture for Term 3…
And the lecturers throw us a lot of assignment…
We are going to have our holiday soon you know…T-T
The first one is design the interior of the shophouse that we measure before for our client, the artist or designer that we research on..
But before that we need to make a moodbox first…
Second is the TOD assignment.. we need to do a “art love design process journal” which is to record down the process of making the shophouse…
Thirdly is the INTECH, we need to choose one of the wall from the shophouse inside a 20 X 20 X 20 mm box..
And the last one is the CADP..
We need to add in furniture or anything that is going to be in the shophouse in the previous autocad drawing and also a shophouse drawing using viz….

Where is our holiday…?

Submission for machine~~

Today is the submission for the machine..
Everyone come earlier to complete their machine before handed it in…
And we managed to finish it on time...
The machine we design is something that can wear on the body and it is to enhance on touch and hearing...
The main material is the aluminum as it will vibrate when it knock on something and thus produce sound..
So we have another device that can wear around ears so the sound can be heard clearer…
Our machine is called “Blind Mice”

Brain damage...

We have to think again the machine that we want to do as quite a number of people are doing the same thing and it seems that the machine got a lot of problem and it just doesn’t work out…
So we have to brainstorm again…
And the drawing for the shophouse is driving me crazy…

At last we finish the shophouse drawing…
And we were asked to give marks to our own group member…
But to me everyone had done their part well so it is quite difficult to give marks…
Especially Danni coz she really take care of everything…
She is a good leader =)
So I gave her full marks haha…

Consultation...

Today is the consultation for the machine..
We consult Yong Shenq and King since we are in 04 and 05..
So at the end we decided to make a machine like something that can wear on your wrist and the will be some “leg” that extend out so that they can explore the space…

A new project!!

Today Kelly shows us a video at the beginning of the lecture…
And then we were asked to make something out of the wire that Kelly gave us before…
So I just make something that can wear on hand haha…
And then he told us we will have a new project…
I knew it….
And this project is to design a machine for disable people..
Like take away the sight then have to rely on hearing or touch…
Shophouse and machine shophouse and machine????
So wat is the connection???
I just dun get it hahahahahahaha…
Anyway we decided to make a machine for a blind person..
So is to take away the sight and the machine is to enhance the touch…
This is the only idea that we can come out with haha…

Shophouse shophouse shophouse...

Every group have done with their measurement but we still cannot find the shophouse that we want…so we have to go and find again…
Jia Min’s auntie’s office is in a shophouse so she called and asked and it was so happen that the shophouse is what we want which is with 1 air well and 1 rear court and her boss is so nice that he agreed to let us measure the shophouse.. XD
So we rush all the way to there and meet her auntie…
And she even gave us the copy of the original drawing of the shophouse for reference…

Look for shophouse~~~

Today all of us gather in Chinatown mrt 1st and started our journey on finding the shophouse~~~
But but but,
when we ask the people there about the shophouse they were like “huh”, “I dunno”….
Ok I dun blame them coz if you ask me I also will answer you “sorry I dunno….”
At the end we still dun have the measurement of the shophouse coz they dun want to let us measure and some of us got GEMS so we have no choice but to dismiss without anything done…..

Shophouse

Today we have a lecture on different kind on shophouses…
Then we were asked to measure a shophouse and draw it out using autocad…
WAT!!!!!!
That’s my first reaction…..T-T..
So we separate into 6 groups and the class reps from each class will be the group leader and there will be 16 or 17 members in each group…
I am in Danni and Shane group and the shophouse we were asked to draw is the shophouse with 1 air well and 1 rear court…
So we decided to meet up on Wednesday 10 am at Chinatown mrt…

Take photos~~

At last!! Finish my drawings!!
But!!
We have another assignment………………………
After the human figures and the staircases and now we need to draw human figures again...
This time we are asked to draw out the human figures together with the furniture…
So now we have to measure the furniture…
Apart from that, we are also asked to take photo of the human figure together with the furniture..
One action 4 photos and altogether we need 40 photos~~~~
Be it you or your family that is in the photo…
The purpose is to capture the relationship between human body proportion and furniture..
Luckily I bought my camera hahaha…

Staircases~~

I haven’t finish my 32 drawings of human figures and now..
we need to measure staircases and draw them out………. T-T
We have to choose 3 kind of different staircases that we can found in SP..
So my choices are..
SPIRAL STAIRCASE, STRAIGHT FLIGHT and DOG-LEGGED…
so we walk around the school and measure and draw and measure and draw…
and draw again and again and again…….

Another 16 drawings

After the 16 drawings and here comes another 16 drawings~~
Now we need to draw the movement like running and jumping..
But I haven’t even finished my previous 16 human figures >_<…
I think I would better be faster…

DS and intech

Early in the morning and we gather in the class wondering why we need to bring measuring tape and INTECH journal..
It should be DS lecture you know...
Well after the lecture and the assignment was given to us..
We were asked to draw out the drawing of movement like sitting, squatting, standing, stretching…
4 drawings for one movement and all together we need to draw 16 drawings..
So this is why we need measuring tape…
After lunch break and everyone came back to studio and started to measure each other and draw out “ourselves” haha..

Submission day

Today is the submission for the pictures for “The Tales of Two City” and the collage..
So the four A1 boards is in whole red, yellow, blue and green..
It is just so nice when the boards being put together haha..

The Tales of Two City

We went to Little India and take photo~~
The title is “The Tales of Two City”,
So we just have to take photo of something that is only in Little India..
We were separated into several groups and I was together with Jia Min and Sarah coz we were in the same group..

TERM 3~~

School reopens~~
The first day of school and we were told that we would have one week of Photography Workshop instead of having the drawing lesson and the other lesson like last term..
Hahaha…
It is quite interesting because it is just not like the other course.. I dun think business course will have such kind of lesson for their 1st week haha..
The lesson is quite useful because I was planning to buy a camera so now I know what kind of camera I want to buy wahahaha..
So after the lesson, we were divided into four groups..
RED, YELLOW, BLUE, GREEN,
And I was allocated to GREEN group~~
So I just have to take photo when I see green green things~~~
Haha..

The final model!

I had used plywood,aluminium,acrylic and also bass wood.

The most difficult part is that my the aluminium is not easily stick even with super glue.

And the arcylic that i chose is too thin which is 1mm thick and it will crack when i cut by using machine.Thus,i used acylic cutter to cut out the shape that i want.

I intentionally scratch on the largest acrylic sheet which was the 'X' shape that on the top so to add on the feeling of dangerous.

As for the pillar,which was also the staircase,i had cut the aluminium in 1cm long each,and made them into ring shape,and i put the small piece of acrylic sheet in between.

The tessalation that i had chose to make into my model.

And this is the models that made up of satay sticks,papers and also ZO cards.

After enlarging the small part of the onthography,it had became the tesselations! Pattern

The peek a book--
This actually is not the original book as i did not have enough time for the first one and it came out to be a very rough work..so i decided to redo and this is my final "peek-a-book".
The story is about a little girl fall asleep when she was siting under the tree.When she woke up,she realise that she was in another world which there are candies and cookies flying around.
She saw a little boy was crying and then she decided to help him to find his rabbit.
A magician had helped her found the rabbit and made her returned to her own world.
And when the little girl opened her eyes,she found out that she was still sitting under the tree,bt she was holding a sweet that the rabbit had gave her in her hand.
In order to make the book looked more interesting,i cut out the object in another piece of paper and used sponge to increase the thickness.
The only regret is that the cover was not good and did not looked attractive at all.

The ping pong balls..=)

Peek-A-Book

After the making of russian doll,we are told to produce a peek-a-book.
It was like a children story book.
I had thought of a story of an amazing dream of a little girl as my russian dolls is all about that little girl.
The last page of the book should be one of the emotion that we had drew on our mini me.
I had chose HAPPY as my last picture of my book.

My Russian doll..

After the 40 ping pong balls,we had to make a set of russian doll then.
This russian doll is also call a mini me,which means we have to make 1 set of russian doll with the emotions we had drew before.
The ping pong balls was just a started..
Before i started to make my russian doll,i had sketch many drawings on the drawing block in order to find a suitable shape,size and height for my mini me.
I have chose clay as the material for my russian doll as it can be make into any shape when it is still soft.the clay is also can be dried faster by just leaving it aside.
The 4 emotions of mu mini me is
HAPPY,CONFUSE,SORROW and ANGER.

The ping pong balls

In term 1,i have done many things.One of these is drawing emotions on 40 ping pong balls.
First,i drew 20 emotios on drawing block.After that,we are told to transfer the emotions onto 20 of the ping pong balls.I chose colour pencils as my colouring material.
After the 20 ping pong balls,i continued with my another 20 ping pong balls.
This time,we supposed to improve the emotions we had drew on the previous 20 balls.
The reason i chose colour pencils as my colouring material is because there are many choices of colour i can use to drew the emotions and it was easier to colour the balls if compare to other materials such as water colour and acrylic paint.

Continuing..

As observed from the pictures found on the internet, the body is slightly larger than the head of Mashimaro, and it has small arms and legs.



But it is not easy to determine the dimensions for the head, it cannot be too small or big and i tried twice cutting out the correct one and glued it to see if it fits the body shape.

After that, i have similarly cut the same size to another paper to make it thicker and firmer.

Lastly, i made use of double sided tape to stick the cotton wool on one side and stick against my artpiece on the other side, to create a better white effect of Mashimaro on it.

Designing my mashimaro art piece

I decided on Mashimaro as the cartoon character that i will be doing for my first assignment.

Firstly, I took some time to browse through the shape and size of mashimaro on many websites, studying the different shape and sizes for each part of the body of the Mashimaro. I then decided the dimensions of its body before starting to draw on the drawing block.
